In its 150 years of existence, St Charles College has known great joy and pride in the achievements of our learners.

A debt of gratitude is also owed to the leadership of a team of staff and board members who, along with providing a quality education, have instilled outstanding values in the boys, guiding them to be the best they can be.

Resilience, loyalty, courage and progressive thinking must also be mentioned in the weathering of many challenges and storms, bringing the school out onto the other side – stronger than ever.

It was all these characteristics which caused a key group of Old Boys and friends to step up in 1980/81 to form the SCC Investment Trust. 
 
The purpose of the Trust was, and continues to be, to provide funds for the growth of the school amenities to keep it relevant with the times; to be able to meet future challenges and opportunities; and to support the bursaries and scholarships offered by the school.  This is so that every boy who leaves SCC is equipped to be a meaningful member of our communities, country and the world.  The track record of the school and a number of old boys is testimony to this goal.
 
The Trust has been instrumental, in the last 40+ years, in creating the financially sound Independent School that SCC is today.  And we thank the current Chairman, Alan Fourie, and his fellow trustees for their diligent management of the Trust.  And for the incredible support which they have given, and continue to give, to the College.
 
Although St Charles College takes pride in offering quality education at fees lower than many other Independent Schools, there are still boys with promise and potential whose families can’t afford this level of education.
 
These boys shouldn’t be denied the opportunity for their talent to be nurtured to become contributing citizens and leaders of the future.  Through the offices of the Investment Trust the intention is to grow the endowment for the annual awards and to be able to support capital and other academic needs as required.

As custodians of the College and its future wellbeing, many Old Boys take on the honour and responsibility to defend the College and make sure that it remains financially in reach – especially to those families who have made a generational investment in sending their sons to St Charles College.
 
This award is funded by dividends from capital investment built up from Old Boy contributions and bequests made over the years.
 
Whilst dividends from carefully chosen investments provide a body of money available for ongoing new amenities, bursaries and scholarships, the Trust needs continued input to make possible its work.  Donations are vital.  They are also a wonderful way to contribute to both the heritage and the future of the school.
 
The Trust will administer all donations made, whether earmarked or undesignated, and such contributions will be handled with the utmost care.  The Trust is registered to provide Section 18A tax certificates for donations each tax year, so they are tax deductible in the donor’s hands.
